Minutes of Board Meeting Tuesday, September 11th, 2007
9 AM, 800 College Avenue, Weed, CA

Call to order 9:09 AM

Roll Call:
Audra Gibson, Todd Cory, Steve Crow, Barbara Dillman
Kathy Blevins, John Cumming, Greg Messer, Ron Demele, Maryann Thush

Check in – Round the table introductions from everyone present.

Minutes of September 11th, 2007 regular meeting were approved as written.

Public Comment: none

Reports and Possible Action

Executive Director Report:
None, as John has been away for the past 3 weeks.

Financial Report:
John is working on a final 2006-2007 year end budget.
The 2007-2008 budget was reviewed and discussed.
Due to health problems, our Secretary/Treasurer is unavailable to perform her duties. The board appointed Todd Cory to serve as the interim Secretary and Barbara Dillman to serve as the interim Treasurer.
Our liability insurance renewal notice was just received and will be paid.
The State sent us our official change of name papers from MCTV 15 to Siskiyou Media Council

Operations Report:
11 Golden Eagle Charter School students have been attending a special COS class taught by Ron Demele.
California Country is now being sent to us on DVD!
Siskiyou Blues had to be canceled due to lack of volunteers to assist with the production.
Terez Swenson sent out cards asking people to assist with our efforts.
The COS Com 35 class will not be available to help with productions in October.
Sept 18th was out most recent orientation. Four new people showed up, two of which signed up to be producers.
Security was at 100% last month!

Programming Report:
Kathy indicated there have been no problems.

COS Liaison:
Steve Crow is interested in MCTV recommendations for lighting board upgrades.
Ron Demele indicated there were some scheduling issues with MCTV productions, his classes, and people needing to access editing computers. Steve and Ron will discuss setting up an editing computer in the upstairs office.

Old Business:

Legacy Fund projects update:
Sisson Museum – Audra will be doing some shooting at the museum.
JEDI - no change
Sisson Museum - waiting for script
Community resource - on hold as Shirley was the producer - the contact person, Marsha Smith has been notified

Professional Services Update:
Mercy - no change, two remaining shows are nearing completion pending availability of John Cumming.
COS Today - the next show scheduled for Monday Sept. 17th was cancelled due to a scheduling conflict with Dr. Pelum.

New Business:
Those present again discussed the importance of cross training staff/volunteers for key positions, as dependability on volunteers is the backbone of our organization. This will be addressed ASAP at the retreat.

Retreat:
The time for the retreat will be Saturday, November 17 from 10 AM to 4 PM at Stewart Springs. The board approved Audra to schedule a facilitator for this.
